This course is for anyone interested in learning more about the SI joint – as a yoga teacher or a student interested in delving deeper. The SI joint is a critical hinging point between the upper and lower body and often plays a contributing role in low back, pelvic or hip pain. In this course, we will begin with a look at the structure and function of the joint before adding in the supportive anatomy. From this foundational knowledge, we will look at common dysfunctions here and stressors that trigger discomfort alongside tests and evaluations to identify irritation in the SI joint. Lastly, we will examine the yoga applications and specific components of the yoga practice that help to create support, mobility and stability to optimize the function of this joint.
Includes over 2.5 hours of online training videos and a pdf manual with illustrated pictures and descriptions to guide your learning.
This course counts for 3 hours of Teacher Training credit towards Yoga Medicine’s 500/1000hour program certification.
