Myofascial Release Module (60hr)

The beautiful city of Portland, Oregon, was once Tiffany’s home, so we are thrilled to return to the eccentric Pacific Northwest for a new style of retreat – an urban retreat. Tiffany will lead this advanced teacher training on the multifaceted function of fascia during Portland’s amazing summertime. If you haven’t visited Oregon before, this is the perfect occasion for your first visit!

The Myofascial Release Module offers an in-depth look at the science behind the role of fascia and use of myofascial release techniques within a yoga setting. In this training will dive into the current understanding of the fascia by examining the function and dysfunction of the fascia in conjunction to therapeutic application techniques. We will identify common areas and trigger points in the body that with simple, mindful self-application can be a great tool for working with yoga students and private clients alike.

The format of the training week will be familiar: each day begins with a two-hour morning practice & ends with a more restorative practice in the evening to tie together the course content of the day. There will be daily teacher training lectures in the morning & afternoon along with evening homework to help you retain the information. On each full day the group will enjoy a healthy breakfast together & midday coffee breaks. Unlike our other trainings in remote locations, this training is located in the Portland city-center at the Benson Hotel located in the iconic Pearl District. So we will have long lunch breaks to give you time to stroll to array of nearby bistros, healthy cafes & diners for lunch. Each day will wrap up in time for dinner so you will have the evening to experience Portland’s charm.

This training is geared towards yoga teachers, & we also welcome physical therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, etc. If you’d like to take this training without enrolling in Yoga Medicine’s teacher training program, then you are welcome to attend the Myofascial Release module. However, if you are a yoga teacher, we highly encourage your application to the 500-hour program so you can receive the Yoga Alliance training credit and 60-hour towards your certification with Yoga Medicine.

Myofascial Release Module (60hrs)

This module is a great adjunct to the yoga practice for those with injuries or restrictions and a great combination to the orthopedic modules (hip, spine, shoulder, extremities) when taken before or after to integrate the information and apply it in a more effective way.

The training week will focus on myofascial release techniques with a morning practice to incorporate some of the myofascial release in a moderate vinyasa setting and a short restorative class in the evenings. In between you will have a morning and afternoon lecture.  This module is open to anyone looking to use myofascial release personally, within a therapeutic setting or as an adjunct to other complimentary movement/mobility specialities (bodyworkers, coaches, PTs, etc.)

If you are enrolled in Yoga Medicine’s 500hr or 1000hr program, this module will count as 60 hours towards your certification. Following the module you will be invited to take a short, online quiz to receive your certificate of completion.

This training is geared towards yoga teachers, and we also welcome physical therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, etc. If you’d like to take this training without enrolling in Yoga Medicine’s 500/1000hr program, then you are welcome to register without enrolling in Yoga Medicine teacher training program.

When planning your travel, please keep in mind that the training begins with 7am morning practice on August 7th & ends around 6pm on August 12th. You must be present for the entire duration of the training in order to receive your hours & the certificate of completion for this training. Please review our attendance policy for details.

For this training you are free to select the accommodation of your choice. The Benson Hotel, the location of this training, offers a discounted nightly price for our participants. Contact the Benson Hotel directly & mention you are attending the Yoga Medicine training to receive the discounted rate.

When traveling to/from another country, you may also need to contact your healthcare provider about any necessary immunizations as well as making sure your prescription medicines, passport & possible visas are in order. The airfare & ground travel is the responsibility of the participant, so we urge you to coordinate these logistics well in advance & make smart decisions based on weather & events on the ground.

The closest airport is Portland International Airport. Transportation to city-center is available on public transportation (MAX train or buses), city cabs, or rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) If you are staying at the Benson Hotel, then the hotel’s airport shuttle is an option as well.
