In December 2020, Tiffany and the Yoga Medicine® team will head to Hollywood, Florida to offer an advanced teacher training on the hip. The Hip Intensive Yoga Teacher Training provides a thorough examination of the hip’s anatomy, dysfunction, and the application of yoga to address common contraindications. The hip curriculum is one of our core orthopedic modules along with the spine and shoulder modules – all of which are highly recommended for our advanced teachers.
The module begins with a daily 2-hour morning practice and ends with a more restorative practice in the evening that ties into the course content to help you integrate the information. The teacher training lectures are held during the day with homework each evening to help you retain the information.
Who is This Training For?
For teachers dedicated to a higher standard of learning looking to deepen their knowledge.
The 55-hour advanced courses are for yoga teachers enrolled in our 500-hour program and are dedicated to pursuing their 500-hour certification with Yoga Medicine®. Every participant has at least a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate and is actively working with students and clients in a yoga setting.
We believe that an experienced yoga teacher is a key component in our healthcare network and with our credentials, people know they have a teacher who is knowledgeable and experienced. The 500-hour advanced training focuses on a deeper understanding of western anatomy and physiology and its application to the traditional yoga philosophy. We train our teachers to understand the body and the practice so that they can understand how to apply the practice to the individual with any style or level of practice to create personalized therapeutic yoga sessions.
Anticipated Daily Schedule
Sunday – Thursday
The format of the yoga teacher training week will be familiar — each day begins with a 2-hour morning practice and ends with a more restorative practice in the evening to tie together the course content of the day. There will be daily yoga teacher training lectures in the morning and afternoon along with evening homework to help you retain the information. Unlike our other trainings in remote locations, this training is located in Hollywood, Florida (between Fort Lauderdale and Miami). So we will have an hour breakfast break and long lunch breaks around 1-3pm to give you time to stroll to cafes and diners. Each day will finish in time for dinner so you will have the evening to experience the electricity of Hollywood Beach.
When booking flights, please keep in mind that the training begins at 7am on December 6th and ends with an evening lecture at 5pm on December 11th. We recommend reviewing our attendance policy and the cancellation/refund policy in the FAQ’s for more details before registering. Please consider acquiring travel insurance to help protect yourself from the unforeseen and unavoidable that may affect or prevent your participation in the training (sickness, injury, family emergency, weather, etc.).
Hip: Anatomy, Dysfunction, and Application (55 Hours)
Many yoga practitioners seek out yoga for hip pain, injuries, and other ailments. The intensive yoga teacher training begins with a deeper look at the anatomy and biomechanics of the hip joint as a basis for learning to evaluate this area. This course examines the common injuries and dysfunction of the hip with an exploration of how to work with issues in this area. During the week you will learn how to work with a variety of ailments and how to troubleshoot new ailments on your own. There will be case studies along the way to help you integrate the information. You will leave with a deeper understanding of this joint that you can immediately apply to your teaching and your practice by more thoroughly understanding the function of this critical joint.
This yoga teacher training counts as 55 hours towards your 500-hour/1000-hour Yoga Medicine® certification. Directly following the yoga teacher training you will be invited to take an online exam to receive your certificate of completion.
