MYOFASCIAL RELEASE MODULE (60HRS)
PORTLAND, OREGON | AUGUST 7-12, 2018
The beautiful city of Portland, Oregon, was once Tiffany’s home, so we are thrilled to return to the eccentric Pacific Northwest for a new style of retreat – an urban retreat. Tiffany will lead this advanced teacher training on the multifaceted function of fascia during Portland’s amazing summertime. If you haven’t visited Oregon before, this is the perfect occasion for your first visit!
The Myofascial Release Module offers an in-depth look at the science behind the role of fascia and use of myofascial release techniques within a yoga setting. In this training will dive into the current understanding of the fascia by examining the function and dysfunction of the fascia in conjunction to therapeutic application techniques. We will identify common areas and trigger points in the body that with simple, mindful self-application can be a great tool for working with yoga students and private clients alike.
AUGUST 7-12, 2018
WHO IS THIS FOR?
For teachers dedicated to a higher standard of learning looking to deepen their knowledge.
The 60-hour advanced courses are for yoga teachers enrolled in our 500-hour program and are dedicated to pursuing their 500-hour certification with Yoga Medicine. Every participant has at least a 200-hour teacher training certificate and is actively working with students and clients in a yoga setting.
We believe that an experienced yoga teacher is a key component in our healthcare network and with our credentials, people know they have a teacher who is knowledgeable and experienced. The 500hr advanced training focuses on a deeper understanding of Western anatomy and physiology and its application to the traditional yoga philosophy. We train our teachers to understand the body and the practice so that they can understand how to apply the practice to the individual with any style or level of practice to create personalized therapeutic yoga sessions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Anticipated Daily Schedule
1:30-3pm Lunch & Break
6-7pm Restorative Practice
7pm Dinner (on your own – explore Portland!)
30-60 Minutes of Review/Homework
The format of the training week will be familiar: each day begins with a two-hour morning practice & ends with a more restorative practice in the evening to tie together the course content of the day. There will be daily teacher training lectures in the morning & afternoon along with evening homework to help you retain the information. On each full day the group will enjoy a healthy breakfast together & midday coffee breaks. Unlike our other trainings in remote locations, this training is located in the Portland city-center at the Benson Hotel located in the iconic Pearl District. So we will have long lunch breaks to give you time to stroll to array of nearby bistros, healthy cafes & diners for lunch. Each day will wrap up in time for dinner so you will have the evening to experience Portland’s charm.
This module counts as 60 hours towards your 500/1000hr Yoga Medicine certification. Directly following the module you will be invited to take a short, online quiz to receive your certificate of completion.
Myofascial Release Module (60hrs)
This module is a great adjunct to the yoga practice for those with injuries or restrictions and a great combination to the orthopedic modules (hip, spine, shoulder, extremities) when taken before or after to integrate the information and apply it in a more effective way.
The training week will focus on myofascial release techniques with a morning practice to incorporate some of the myofascial release in a moderate vinyasa setting and a short restorative class in the evenings. In between you will have a morning and afternoon lecture. This module is open to anyone looking to use myofascial release personally, within a therapeutic setting or as an adjunct to other complimentary movement/mobility specialities (bodyworkers, coaches, PTs, etc.)
