Spine Module (60hr)

CADIZ, SPAIN | MAY 12-19, 2018

This training — Spine: Anatomy, Dysfunction & Application — is one of our core orthopedic modules, making it an ideal training for teachers who want to expand their anatomy knowledge and apply anatomically-aware sequencing into their class and private teaching. In the Spine Module, Tiffany Cruikshank will guide you through a deeper look into the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine as a basis for learning to evaluate this area. Throughout practice and lecture, we will assess the spine’s mobility, common injuries, and types of spinal dysfunction alongside an exploration of how to identify these issues within a yoga context. After completing this training you will leave with a robust understanding of the spine’s anatomy and how you can apply this knowledge to provide your yoga students with a stronger, safer, and more well-rounded approach to spinal integrity within a therapeutic yoga application.

This course takes place at one of Yoga Medicine’s favorite destinations — the Suryalila Retreat Center in Cadiz, Spain. This retreat center is tucked away in the beautiful countryside so you can experience a refreshing change of pace from your daily routine. Enjoy locally sourced vegetarian menus designed daily by the onsite chefs. We hope you can join us there!

MAY 12-19, 2018

For teachers dedicated to a higher standard of learning looking to deepen their knowledge.

The 60-hour advanced courses are for yoga teachers enrolled in our 500-hour program and are dedicated to pursuing their 500-hour certification with Yoga Medicine. Every participant has at least a 200-hour teacher training certificate and is actively working with students and clients in a yoga setting.

We believe that an experienced yoga teacher is a key component in our healthcare network and with our credentials, people know they have a teacher who is knowledgeable and experienced. The 500hr advanced training focuses on a deeper understanding of Western anatomy and physiology and its application to the traditional yoga philosophy. We train our teachers to understand the body and the practice so that they can understand how to apply the practice to the individual with any style or level of practice to create personalized therapeutic yoga sessions.

Spine: Anatomy, Dysfunction, & Application (60-hour course)

This module begins with a deeper look at the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine as a basis for learning to evaluate this area. In this course, we will examine common injuries and types of spinal dysfunction alongside an exploration of how to identify these issues. You will learn how to work with and troubleshoot a variety of ailments for your own practice or for working with others.

We will present case studies along the way to help you integrate the information, so you will leave with a deeper understanding that you can immediately apply to your teaching and personal practice by more thoroughly understanding the function of the spine.

This module counts as 60 hours towards your 500/1000hr Yoga Medicine certification. Directly following the module you will be invited to take a short, online quiz to receive your certificate of completion.
