Yoga For Athletes Teacher Training

Sydney, Australia

June 21-24, 2020

About

We are excited to head back to Sydney, Australia for the Yoga for Athletes Teacher Training. Led by Tiffany Cruikshank, this training will enable you to weave yoga into any athletic endeavor to create an effective yoga class that accommodates injuries, injury prevention, performance enhancement, and mental preparation.

This 4-day, 24-hour immersion yoga teacher training is a great way for our teachers and dedicated practitioners to join an advanced short course without having to commit to prolonged periods away from work or long plane journeys. The price of these urban-style yoga teacher trainings includes the training tuition only, making it accessible for local teachers or those who want to find their own food and accommodations. Each day will feature a daily 2-hour morning practice relevant to the course content and follow with an afternoon training lecture and a short evening homework assignment to help you retain the information.

Who is This Training For?

Yoga Medicine®’s immersion trainings take place at yoga studios or conference centers around the world. The curriculum is geared towards yoga teachers and dedicated yoga practitioners who want to learn more. These trainings are not suitable for yoga novices.

We offer the shorter yoga teacher trainings to allow our teachers to continue their education without taking too much time away from their other committments. These trainings begin with a daily 2-hour morning practice relevant to the yoga teacher training’s content and the afternoon teacher training lectures help you relate the curriculum to movement and case studies. A short evening homework assignment helps you retain the information. Some yoga teacher trainings have recommended prep work to review before the training begins. The price of these trainings includes the training only, making it accessible for local teachers or those who want to find their own food and accommodations.

Program Structure

Anticipated Daily Schedule

  • 9am-5pm

The format of the yoga for athletes teacher training week will be familiar: each day begins with a 2-hour morning practice and ends with a 4-hour afternoon lecture that ties in with that day’s practice. Unlike our other trainings in remote locations, this training is located in the heart of Bondi Junction at Elixr Health Club. So we will have long lunch breaks around 1-3pm to give you time to stroll to an array of nearby bistros, healthy cafes, and diners for lunch. Each day will wrap up in time for dinner so you will have the evening to experience Sydney’s radiance.

When booking flights, please keep in mind that the training begins at 9am on June 21st with morning practice and ends around 5pm on June 24th with afternoon lecture. We recommend reviewing our attendance policy and cancellation/refund policy for more details before registering. You must be present for the entire training to receive the certificate of completion for the 24-hour yoga teacher training. This attendance rule is required for both the general participant as well as those enrolled in Yoga Medicine®’s 500-hour/1000-hour program.

Please consider acquiring travel insurance to help protect yourself from the unforeseen and unavoidable that may affect or prevent your participation in the training (sickness, injury, family emergency, weather, etc.).

Program Curriculum

Yoga for Athletes (24 hours)

This immersion yoga teacher training in Sydney will cover anatomy and biomechanics as it relates to athletes as well as the psychological implications of a regular yoga practice, particularly examining the ongoing process of pushing your body to the brink and staying healthy in the process. There will be an overview of common athletic injuries and how to approach them. We will assess the application of yoga for the different phases of athletic training and recovery as well as off-season cross-training applications. We will also look at different sports and positions, and how to analyze the application of yoga to any athletic endeavor to help teachers create effective yoga classes for athletes and working with injuries, injury prevention, performance enhancement, and mental preparation.

This yoga teacher training counts as 24 hours towards your 500-hour/1000-hour Yoga Medicine® certification. Directly following the yoga teacher training you will be invited to take an online quiz to receive your certificate of completion.
