The Yoga Medicine Shoulder: Anatomy, Dysfunction & Treatment Module will take place at the Menla Mountain Retreat in the picturesque hills of the Catskills in upstate New York. Our weeklong teacher training modules include 7 nights accommodation and 3 meals prepared on-site by the retreat’s own team of chefs. Join us in the autumn colors of New York, trading your daily routine for deep learning amongst your Yoga Medicine community of teachers.
The module begins with a daily 2-hour morning practice & ends with a more restorative practice in the evening that ties into the course content to help you integrate the information. The teacher training lectures are held during the day with homework each evening to help you retain the information.
Shoulder: Anatomy, Dysfunction & Treatment (60hrs)
This module begins with a deeper look at the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder joint as a basis for learning to evaluate this area. This course examines the common injuries & dysfunction of the shoulder with an exploration of how to work with issues in this area. This course will teach you how to work with a variety of ailments and how to troubleshoot new ailments on your own. There will be case studies along the way to help you integrate the information. You will leave with a deeper understanding of this joint that you can immediately apply to your teaching and your practice by more thoroughly understanding the function of this joint.
This module counts as 60 hours towards your 500hr or 1000hr certification. You must be an approved 500/1000hr teacher in order to attend this training. If you would like to attend and have not yet been approved, please fill out our online application by clicking the button on this page.
When booking flights, please keep in mind that the training begins with dinner on September 24th and ends with a morning vinyasa class from 7-8:30am followed by breakfast on October 1st. We recommend review the attendance policy for details.
When traveling to another country, you may also need to contact your health care provider about any necessary immunizations as well as making sure your prescription medicines, passport and possible visas are in order. The airfare and ground travel is the responsibility of the participant, so we urge to you to coordinate these logistics well in advance and make smart decisions based on weather and events on the ground.
The closest airports are Albany International Airport in Albany, NY, and Stewart Airport in Newburgh, NY. Via public transportation, you can connect to the Adirondack Trailways bus, which will bring you to nearby Phoenicia.
You may also fly into any of the major New York City airports and take the Adirondack Trailways bus from New York City, departing from Port Authority. All New York City airports connect to Port Authority Bus Terminal via public transportation.

Couples sharing a bed & both participating in the training need to enroll one participant one of the Single Rooms and contact email@example.com immediately to arrange for the second participant. If Single Rooms are sold out, we will do our best to accommodate.

In order to attend the retreat, your final payment (minus the $500 deposit) must be received by the date above. Otherwise, you will be automatically removed from the training. The final payment is non-refundable & non-transferable after July 1st, 2017.
There are no refunds or transfers of payments after the above deadline due to the fact that we are required to make retreat payments that are no longer refundable after this time.
We realize that some extenuating circumstances may prohibit you from attending, which may include inclement weather and other circumstances beyond your control. However, due to non-recoverable payments that we must make in advance to secure the retreat centers, we cannot make exceptions regardless of the circumstance. We appreciate your understanding.
