By Tiffany Cruikshank, L.Ac, MAOM, E-RYT, Founder of Yoga Medicine®

This course is helpful for anyone interested in learning more about the sacroiliac (SI) joint – as a yoga teacher or a student interested in delving deeper. The SI joint is a critical hinging point between the upper and lower body and often plays a contributing role in low back, pelvic or hip pain. In this course, we will begin with a look at the structure and function of the joint before adding in the supportive anatomy. From this foundational knowledge, we will look at common dysfunction here and stressors that trigger discomfort alongside tests and evaluations to identify irritation in the SI joint. Lastly, we will examine the yoga application and specific components of the yoga practice that help to create support, mobility, and stability to optimize the function of this joint.
