Interoception & Pain Research
In this month’s monthly dose, you’ll get a high-level overview of a paper by Voss and colleagues (2023; Annals of Medicine), “Mind-body practices, interoception and pain: a scoping review of behavioral and neural correlates.". While the current state of the science on yoga, pain and interoception remains limited, the authors suggest that interoceptive techniques including attending to and acceptance of bodily sensations, appear to be key therapeutic mechanisms in mind-body practices for chronic pain. Note: there will be a more in-depth discussion on this paper in an upcoming episode of the YM Podcast if you are interested in learning more.
