Hear from some of our past in-person 200-Hour graduates:

Jill Beasley

200-Hour Yoga Medicine Teacher

“I came into the YTT knowing that I wanted to deepen my yoga practice and gain the foundational tools to teach. I had no idea the profound impact that six months would have on my life. I was blown away by the depth of the anatomy lectures with direct application to yoga poses and teaching along with the instructors’ ability to teach to people from a variety of backgrounds. From anatomy to sequencing, the quality and content of the training was beyond compare. I’m forever grateful for the YTT experience and am inspired to continue learning with Yoga Medicine®.”

Leslie Collins

Meet the teachers...

Dana Diament

E-RYT500 & Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist

Dana came to yoga as a teenager and developed a regular practice initially for the mental and emotional benefits she experienced of finding clarity, gaining confidence, and connecting to a peaceful place within. Her love for functional anatomy came later on, through healing injuries and her mentorship with Tiffany Cruikshank. Her teaching weaves together her two passions - intelligent anatomical sequencing and wisdom drawn from philosophy - to create classes with a three dimensional focus on health and wellness.

Dana has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cornell University and an associate’s degree in Graphic Design from Parson’s University in New York. Born in Israel and raised in New Jersey, she has found her true home in Lennox Head, Australia, where she is the owner of Lennox Yoga & Wellness Centre.

Rachel Land

E-RYT500, YACEP, Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist & Senior Teacher

Rachel Land is a yoga teacher, teacher trainer and writer based in Queenstown, New Zealand. Her approach blends traditional yoga practices with extensive study in anatomy, physiology, sports training and therapeutics.

Rachel’s fascination lies in fusing research and tradition together to create a practice that supports and empowers each individual. Her strength is her ability to bring theory to life, making complex topics in the yoga and wellness sphere feel simple and accessible.

She runs workshops and anatomy trainings around the world, regularly contributes to other teacher trainings, and co-teaches several of the Yoga Medicine® 500hr orthopedic modules!

Valerie Knopik

PhD, E-RYT500, Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist, YACEP

Valerie is an endowed Professor and Department Head of Human Development and Family Studies at Purdue University. Formally trained in classical ballet, as well as a former runner, Valerie has always been a believer in staying active but yoga is the perfect marriage of her work in mental health and her love of movement and anatomy.

With a Ph.D. in Psychology, Valerie is extremely active in mental health research, focusing on how our internal biology and our external physical environment (including yoga, mindfulness, and meditation) can interact to positively change our mental health landscape.

Valerie has contributed to online platforms including Yoga Digest, Sweat Equity, InStyle, Spirituality and Health, Mantra Magazine and Yoga International.

Frequently Asked Questions

You are ready to start on your journey to become a teacher if you have a love for yoga, the curiosity to learn more, and the desire to share what you love about yoga with others. All the rest is exactly what this 200-hour yoga teacher training program will show you! Our YTT will give you the building blocks to help you feel prepared. You’ll learn key points for each asana, how to give safe adjustment and modifications, how to cueing others through a sequence, instructions for communicating with a wide audience, and how to ground your personal practice so you are teaching what you know in your body.

Nope - there is no application required for this 200-Hour YTT.

This program is for you if you have a passion for continuous learning, and a minimum of two years of consistent practice (3-6 days per week). While we do not require you to apply and be approved for the 200-Hour Program to participate in this training, our goal is to work closely with those who wish to become dedicated teachers to guarantee a high level of outcome and proficiency.

Don’t worry – crazy arm balances and complex twists are not a prerequisite. We require participants in our program have a dedicated yoga practice for at least a year, so the training group has a working familiarity with a variety of asanas. From there we give you information to refine your practice and look at the asanas from a teaching perspective. Within the weeks of training you will surely meet a few challenging postures, but that is the beauty of yoga and your body – both systems learn from each other!

Yoga Medicine® is not a style of yoga but rather a training that educates the teacher to understand the body and create individualized yoga programs for the student based on their understanding of the anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and the traditional practice of yoga. We have participants from all schools of yoga find that our trainings help deepen their knowledge asana and the body in a way that translates effectively to their own yoga methodology. In the 200-hour, the practices will be a mix of hatha vinyasa intermingled with therapeutics and restorative practices.

200-hour YTTs are offered all around the world in a myriad of formats, so there are innumerable factors to compare. What is more important is deciding what factors matter to you. Here are a few of the strengths that we love about Yoga Medicine®’s program:

  • Yoga Medicine®’s teaching faculty has a breadth of experience teaching in their communities – locally and globally. They each have their own areas of expertise from their careers on and off the yoga mat, plus a wealth of information that they gained by training directly with our founder, Tiffany Cruikshank.
  • Our program has stood the test of time and its longevity speaks volumes on its own. Tiffany Cruikshank built the 200-hour curriculum before YTTs were widely available and over the decades she has continuously refined the content. We continuously raise our own bar!
  • The program’s structure was developed to ensure participants have ample opportunity to digest the information they learn and apply it to their own practice and teaching. Throughout the trainings blocks, you’ll be presented with an array of new concepts, so don’t think it is a breeze! But if you are up to the challenge, you’ll take the knowledge learned, review and apply the concepts in your homework so you are ready for your practice teachings and final exams with a stronger practice and a solid footing on all the key concepts from the curriculum.
The majority of the training is asynchronous and not delivered live or in real time. Approximately 150 hours of the training consists of pre-recorded videos and assignments that you complete at your own pace. The remaining 50 hours is taught live - either online or in-person, depending on the format you sign up for.  The live components of this training include monthly office hours, mentoring calls with lead instructors, and exam days. For 100% online students, the live components also include the 15x mandatory group calls in the second half of the year. For hybrid students, your final 50 hours is taught live and in-person.
The training includes plenty of opportunities for interaction with your lead instructors and trainees. Some of these include: monthly office hours, 1:1 sessions with lead instructors, a live chat board in your online course portal, and a community forum dedicated for your cohort only where you can spark conversations with your fellow trainees. For those desiring deeper connection, we recommend joining the hybrid format which ends with an in-person, week long immersive retreat in Thailand. In the 100% online version, you will have 15x two hour live zoom calls that allow for group discussion, practice teaching, and sharing the experience of the 200hr journey together. While these calls are held with the full cohort, they always include sessions in breakout rooms with smaller groups or 1:1 with another trainee.

A strong internet connection for streaming videos is needed for this training; videos are not available for download at this
time.
