Training Description

Have you ever wondered how to support the lymphatic system in a yoga class to help regulate inflammation, immune function, and lymphatic function? The lymphatic system is perhaps the least studied and talked about system of the body, but with many impressive implications we can leverage throughout our yoga practice and beyond. Understanding the intimate connection that the lymphatic system has with the circulatory and immune systems can help you better utilize the benefits of all of these systems for yourself and your students.

In this 14-hour, LIVE online yoga training led by Tiffany Cruikshank L.Ac and Doreen Wiggins MD, you will learn the detailed anatomy of the lymphatic system and its body wide implications to support lymphatic function, inflammation and the immune and circulatory systems. You will leave this training feeling confident to implement the latest lymphedema applications, presented by Doreen Wiggins, MD, a breast cancer surgeon for over 30 years. You’ll also leave prepared to effectively support the lymphatics through specific yoga-related practices and techniques, and ways to cue, sequence, and support the lymphatic system in a group and one-on-one therapeutic setting.

In this ‘first-of-its-kind’ training, we’ll dig deep into the anatomy, function and circulation of the lymphatic system (Sections 1-3) to understand the what, why and how behind the techniques so that you become the expert (rather than giving you a cookie cutter approach). You’ll learn directly from an MD and breast cancer specialist about lymphedema, cautions and discover helpful tools as a yoga teacher to support lymphatic issues (Section 4). We’ll take one of our sessions to discuss what is currently known about the glymphatic system, the lymphatics in brain and central nervous system, and discuss therapeutic applications in a yoga setting. Finally, we’ll map out the most impactful yoga applications including poses, sequencing, breath, MFR, and other nuances to support this system, your students and yourself towards optimal lymphatic function (Sections 5-7).

Sophie Tashkovski

500-Hour Yoga Medicine Teacher

“There is no doubt that I have become a better teacher with each training I attend. YM trainings have fine tuned my understanding of anatomy, and helped me better understand how to help individual clients feel best in their bodies. I’ve also learned about my own body and how to treat it with kindness. YM trainings have changed my Yoga perspective-when I started as a Yoga student, I thought you had to push yourself at all costs to achieve a pose. Now I accept where I am on any given day and know that it might be different the next day.”
