Training Description

We are so excited to return to a familiar destination, Maya Tulum in Tulum, Mexico, for a brand new offering: the Traditional Chinese Medicine + Female Health Yoga Teacher Training! This will be a combination of two of our favorite trainings bundled into one week of intensive learning! We will begin with our TCM curriculum for the first half of the week which will lead us into the Female Health curriculum to build on that information and finish off the week.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Discover the foundations of Chinese Medicine theory and master the skillful application of TCM within a yoga setting.

For over 20 years, our founder Tiffany Cruikshank has been intertwining the ancient practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine and yoga to empower thousands of students and teachers to observe the nuances and subtleties of the body on a deeper level and move towards balance.

Now, she’s put all of this invaluable information and experience into one game-changing training, specifically designed for teachers and healthcare providers alike seeking to expand their therapeutic toolbelt to more effectively guide students and clients on their unique health journeys.

In this comprehensive 25hr intensive experience, expect to gain a deep understanding of Chinese Medicine principles, their intersection with the art of teaching yoga, and how to thoughtfully apply their wisdom to support common dysfunctions, differential diagnosis and the creation of powerful treatment plans.

Female Health

Female health is an area that often gets brushed over in yoga with a few poses often featured as cure alls. This intricate system of yoga can have a powerful effect on supporting hormonal balance and fertility when approached from an individualized perspective with the phases of the cycle in mind.

This 25-hour yoga training examines the physiology of the female reproductive cycle from both a Western and Chinese medicine perspective. In this course we’ll dig into specifics on how to individualize the practice to support a variety of different female reproductive and hormonal issues as well as look at how to adjust the practice for different phases of the cycle.

We’ll decode specific strategies to support females trying to get pregnant including specifics on working with females using IVF and strategies to help prevent miscarriages; we’ll also briefly talk on male infertility. We’ll also look at the most common female reproductive issues including: polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, fibroids, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), dysmenorrhea (painful periods), amenorrhea (absence of periods) and menopause.

Diane Malaspina

500-Hour Yoga Medicine Teacher

“Take your understanding of wellness and the art of natural healing to another level! Incorporating Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into teaching yoga has enhanced my sequencing and wellness strategies to share with students, especially during seasonal transitions when we can feel stressed but may not be aware of why. Change is constant – day to day and season to season. Taking a TCM approach to yoga helps you to guide students into seasonal food choices and lifestyle habits that they can take off the mat to find balance in their lives. This knowledge will also enhance your sequences with poses that engage and open meridian lines by working with the 5 elements to provide a therapeutic experience. Understanding TCM helps yoga teachers see how the external environment is mirrored in the internal environment. Concepts of yin and yang can also be used to theme the class – physically through the postures or connecting to larger themes like kindness and forgiveness (which are aspects of the elements).”

Ann-Charlotte Monrad

500-Hour Yoga Medicine Teacher

“Incorporating Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles in my yoga sequencing is one of the most inspiring tools I’ve come across during almost twenty years of teaching yoga. When you learn the energetic meridians of TCM, you can target those areas of the body through asana and adapt it to address numerous conditions or concerns. To magnify the effectiveness of your teachings you can also create an emotional setting with your knowledge of the 5 elements: are you aiming to release frustration, create introspection, or do you simply want to support those students who need structure? The possibilities are endless. Instead of “just” teaching a class, there’s now a direction to my classes that can support my students on an even deeper level.”

Danielle Harney

Yoga Teacher

“I took this course just before starting IVF treatment, and with a history of chronic illness, miscarriage and secondary infertility. It helped to give me the tools and confidence to take back control of my body and become more knowledgeable about menstrual cycle and various associated health issues, because of the in-depth and expert knowledge provided by Tiffany. The variety in asana practices, pranayama and acupressure meant I could do even a little bit on my lowest days and feel better about myself and the process I was going through. My stress levels were lowered and I felt in control throughout. I now feel empowered to share this knowledge with my current and future students, and hope to empower females about their own health!”

Michelle Thompson

DO, AOBFP, ABOIM, DipABLM

There is a huge shift in transitioning sick care to well care and self care is the new health care…..Thank you for being a LEADER and ALL the work you have done building the bridge in these worlds. You are my hero!”
