Breathe Your Way to Calm

This breathwork practice looks beyond short-term soothing of stress and anxiety and explores how to support the mechanisms for longer-term resilience in the nervous system and more easeful adaptations to stress. We’ll begin by exploring breath-holding in conjunction with physical ease and reminders of safety, before transitioning to more soothing breath practices. This practice is useful for anyone interested in reeducating their nervous system to find support, relaxation and calm even in the face of challenge through reappraisal of signals of tension that can show up with breath holding. Props needed: a bolster or anything comfortable to sit on.
